International launch of The Ocean & 2024 Anthology WAVES at WAVE24
I provide high quality creative writing , literature and English language training and 1-1 mentorships to writers, literature appreciators, language learners and many others from the age of 7 to 87+ throughout Ireland and around the world online as part of my school, MKCW (Martin Keaveney Creative Writing). I completed a B.A. in English and Italian, a M.A. in Writing and a PhD in Narratology and Creative Writing at University of Galway. I also have an advanced certificate in Media Production and I am very proficient in all aspects of IT and editing/ design systems.
I spent 10 years working in University of Galway Support centre for students with disabilities and I am highly proficient on learning styles and learning aids. I have established and manage a large online and in-person school of creative writing and literature programs which has been in operation for almost 7 years.
I am a published author, having 6 books published with boutique publisher Penniless Press, Warrington, 35 short stories published at 16 different outlets. I have had my films scripts produced and screen on RTE and across the work at International film festivals. I had a stageplay selected from a national completion and developed at the Scripts Ireland festival. I have had my academic work published at globally-leading academic journals and I am a contributor to academic discussions on narratology and Irish literature criticism (All details of my work at www.martinkeaveney.com / about).
I am a scholar of narratology (study of stories) and Irish literature (John McGahern Specialist) and history and I have designed and delivered many high quality programmes to writers of all ages. I also developed and liaise with The Ocean literary magazine and a publisher, Atlantic Papers, to promote and distribute creative and academic work by students. Through these vehicles, we have published the magazine for the past year and through AP, we have published 4 books in 2024, 2 more in 2026 and several more on the way in 2026. I have worked intensively with English learners and local history writers over the course of different programmes in Granard, Co. Longford in 2024. I also worked with 2 groups of teenage / young adult LGBTQIA+ writers in Co. Longford and they published 2 collections of their work.

I designed and delivered ‘Kilkenny Kreatives’, a special program for young writers through Kilkenny County Council as part of the Cruinniu na nOg festival 2025 as well. I also work with highly trained associate tutors. We are all Garda vetted, fully trained and we have all completed Tulsa Children’s First course.
